Reverse Osmosis (RO) Water Treatment Plant – 12000 GPD / 2000 LPH

Approx. Suitable for 4800–9600 Persons

Product Overview

This 12,000 GPD  RO Water Treatment Plant is designed for high-volume potable water production, where uninterrupted supply, operational stability, and water quality consistency are non-negotiable.

The system is configured to handle continuous peak-hour demand by combining a robust RO separation stage with an oversized pre-treatment line built around a 24×72 (2472) FRP pressure vessel. The larger vessel diameter significantly increases media holding capacity, allowing superior turbidity control, lower pressure loss, and stable feed water conditions—critical for protecting RO membranes in large installations.

This plant is ideally suited for industrial campuses, large residential colonies, universities, hospitals, large mosques, public water distribution hubs, and worker accommodation facilities serving approximately 4800–9600 people, depending on daily consumption patterns and operating hours

Process Flow & Major System Units

Pre-Treatment Section

  1. Raw Water Transfer Pump

    • Ensures consistent feed pressure and flow

  2. Pressure Sand Filter – 2472 FRP Vessel

    • Removes turbidity, suspended solids, and particulate matter

  3. Activated Carbon Filter (ACF)

    • Removes chlorine, color, odor, and organic compounds

    • Protects RO membranes from chemical attack

  4. Micron Cartridge Filter (5–10 Micron)

    • Final fine filtration stage before RO membranes

RO Separation Section

  1. High-Pressure RO Pump

    • Provides the required pressure for membrane operation

  2. RO Membrane Housing with High-Rejection RO Membranes

    • Effectively removes dissolved salts, heavy metals, bacteria, and viruses

  3. Pressure Gauges & Flow Meters

    • Enables real-time monitoring of system performance

Post-Treatment & Storage

  1. RO Treated Water Storage Tank (capacity as per site requirement)

  2. UV Sterilizer / Ozone Disinfection System (Optional but Recommended)

    • Ensures the final microbiological safety of drinking water

  3. Polishing Filter (Optional)

  • Improves taste, clarity, and user acceptance

Working Principle

  • Raw water is conditioned through sand and carbon filtration to stabilize physical and chemical parameters.

  • Conditioned water is pressurized and passed through semi-permeable RO membranes, allowing only pure water molecules to pass.

  • Permeate water is collected for drinking, while reject water containing concentrated impurities is discharged.

Typical Application Areas

  • Large industrial plants & manufacturing zones

  • Universities, colleges & large hostels

  • Hospitals & healthcare complexes

  • Major mosques & religious institutions

  • Residential townships & housing projects

  • Public drinking water supply stations

Key Advantages

  • High-volume production of safe potable water

  • 2472 FRP vessel ensures superior pre-treatment efficiency

  • Reduced membrane fouling and longer membrane life

  • Stable output during extended operating hours

  • Scalable design for great institutional demand

  • Lower long-term operating and maintenance costs

Operation & Maintenance

  • Scheduled backwashing of sand and carbon filters

  • Cartridge filter replacement based on pressure drop

  • RO membrane life is typically 2–3 years (raw water dependent)

  • Periodic CIP cleaning for sustained system performance

  • Continuous monitoring of TDS, pressure, and flow

Design & Selection Notes

  • Raw water analysis (TDS, iron, hardness, chlorine, turbidity) is mandatory

  • Additional pre-treatment (iron removal/softener) may be required for difficult raw water

  • Final output and recovery depend on feed water quality and operating discipline

Standard Supply Scope

  • Skid-mounted RO plant with MS powder-coated structure

  • 2472 FRP pressure vessel with graded filter media

  • RO membranes with SS membrane housing

  • High-pressure pump, gauges & flow meters

  • Cartridge filter housing & UV unit (if included)

  • Electrical panel, valves, piping & fittings

  • Installation, commissioning & operator training
