DM (Demineralized) Water Plant with RO Pre-Treatment – 500 LPH

Suitable for Medium Labs, Hospitals, & Small Industrial Applications

Product Overview

This 500 LPH DM Water Plant integrates Reverse Osmosis (RO) pre-treatment with a mixed-bed demineralization unit, delivering high-purity demineralized water for critical processes.

The system is engineered to handle tap, borewell, or pre-treated water, efficiently removing TDS, salts, hardness, and ionic impurities. A 1252 FRP pressure vessel houses the DM resin, ensuring optimal bed depth and high-efficiency deionization for consistent water quality.

Designed for medium-scale laboratories, hospitals, pharmaceutical facilities, and small industrial applications, this plant ensures equipment protection, process accuracy, and compliance with stringent water purity standards.

Key Technical Specifications

  • Pre-Treatment Technology: RO (Reverse Osmosis)

  • Demineralization Technology: Mixed-bed Ion Exchange

  • FRP Vessel Size (DM Section): 12×52 (1252)

  • TDS of Product Water: 1–5 ppm (after DM stage)

  • Automation: Semi-automatic or fully automatic control valves

System Components & Units

RO Pre-Treatment Section

  1. Raw Water Feed Pump

    • Ensures consistent pressure and flow to the RO and DM sections

  2. RO Membrane Module

    • Removes the majority of dissolved salts, hardness, and suspended solids

    • Reduces ionic load on DM resin for extended resin life

  3. RO Post-Cartridge Filter (5–10 Micron)

    • Protects downstream DM resin from particulate contamination

Demineralization Section

  1. Cation Exchange Resin (Strong Acid Cation Resin)

    • Removes calcium, magnesium, and other cations

  2. Anion Exchange Resin (Strong Base Anion Resin)

    • Removes chloride, sulfate, nitrate, and other anions

  3. Mixed-Bed Resin in 1252 FRP Vessel

    • Polishes water to achieve ultra-pure DM water quality

  4. Control Valves, Flow Meters & TDS Monitors

    • Ensures proper operation, regeneration control, and water quality monitoring

Post-Treatment & Storage

  1. DM Water Storage Tank (size as per user requirement)

  2. Optional UV Sterilizer / Ozone System

    • Ensures microbiological safety for sensitive applications

Working Principle

  • Feed water first passes through RO membranes, removing the majority of dissolved salts and hardness.

  • RO permeate is sent to cation and anion resins, where residual ions are exchanged.

  • Mixed-bed resin polishes the water to ultra-low TDS (1–5 ppm).

  • Resin regeneration is carried out periodically with acid and caustic, restoring full deionization capacity.

Typical Applications

  • Medium laboratories & analytical work

  • Hospitals & pharmaceutical production

  • Small industrial processes requiring DM water

  • Boiler feed & cooling water for sensitive equipment

  • Electronics, medical, and food industries

Key Advantages

  • High-purity DM water production using a combined RO + DM system

  • 1252 FRP vessel ensures optimal resin bed depth and efficiency

  • Reduces RO membrane fouling and prolongs equipment life

  • Compact skid-mounted design suitable for medium facilities

  • Minimal maintenance with scheduled resin regeneration

  • Consistent, reliable output for critical processes

Operation & Maintenance

  • Resin Regeneration: Acid for cation, caustic for anion resins

  • Filter Replacement: Sediment, carbon, and cartridge filters based on pressure drop

  • Monitoring: Flow, TDS, and pressure gauges for operational safety

  • Resin Life: 2–5 years, depending on feed water quality and usage

Design & Selection Guidelines

  • Raw water TDS, hardness, and chlorine must be analyzed before installation

  • Pre-treatment (softener/iron removal) may be required for high hardness or iron content

  • Strict adherence to the regeneration schedule and chemical quality ensures consistent performance

Standard Supply Scope

  • Skid-mounted DM + RO combined plant with 1252 FRP vessel

  • RO membrane module and high-pressure pump

  • Cation and anion resins (pre-loaded)

  • Sediment, carbon, and cartridge filters

  • Control valves, flow meters, and piping

  • Optional UV / ozone sterilizer

  • Electrical panel and base frame

  • Installation, commissioning, and operator training
